But Marcus, a young handsome Roman centurion stands in his way. Miriam loves him deeply, but Caleb is determined to stamp out his rival, Miriam is also determined to save Marcus. Though Miriam loves Marcus better than life, she fears that she will never be his bride, her dying mother laid a promise on her life that she would never marry anyone but a true Christian. Can Marcus see the salvation of Christ and find it for his own? Can Caleb get rid of his rival forever and win Miriam’s heart? Can Miriam stay out of the clutches of the bigoted and bloodthirsty Jews?

This is an amazing book! If you have read this and liked it, then you need to read The Mark of the Lion series by Fracine Rivers. It shows the lives of two Roman aristocrats, a slave girl and a gladiator. It can be pretty graphic, so ask your parents first. I loved Pear Maiden, though, and I actually borrowed it from Grace. Read Pearl Maiden!!!
