Thanksliving

I went to house church today, yes, I go to a house church, no, we are not weirdos and sacrilegious. Anyway, since it is the last Sunday before Thanksgiving our “pastor” as you could say was talking about being thankful for everything. He talked about living thankfully and rejoicing at all of our blessings. I have heard this on lot’s of little kids videos, and children’s books and stuff, but it really hit me in a different way this time. Like Mr. Kurt described how he had felt when he found an unopened Mug root beer in his truck. He was very excited and after chilling it for 3 hours he said thanks over it and was very happy. Then he went on to say that he has been trying to thank God for lot’s of things, and realizing that we often do more complaining than thanking in our lives. Somebody brought up the idea that we have to be reminded to be thankful, whereas it seems like complaining comes naturally. So I have decided to try a new idea of mine, why not thank God for something new every day? This is what I have discovered, that reading and drinking in God’s word can make you feel different, and happier. And when I focus my mind on His goodness and His words, I find my outlook is different. I don’t snap at people as much, and I feel more peaceful. So, starting this Thanksgiving Day I am going to thank God for something new every day, it doesn’t have to be big, it could be I am glad that my sheets didn’t get crumpled in the middle of the night. And then next year at Thanksgiving I will review and see if it made a difference. I suggest you try it with me.

And, if you have trouble remembering to thank Him you could do it before bed or at a meal, that helps me to remember.

Ok my 1st one-

I am Thankful for the different seasons. I love fall, winter, spring, and summer. I am so glad God created seasons. It would be so dull if it were winter all year round, and what if you had to live through a hot summer all year long. That is why I am Thankful for seasons.

10th-

I am Thankful that we go to a GREAT house church. I love the closeness and being with friends :) .

11th-

I am Thankful for ALL animals. Most of them just make me smile and thank God for creating them! I really don’t have a favorite animal (although it may be a horse) because Dogs are often times there for you when you need a hug, Cats are just there so you have someone to love, and horses you can talk to them and they won’t say you are weird or silly or just strange. Animals are truly a blessing in my life and you can probably understand why I want to be a Vets Assistant when I grow up.

12th-

I am Thankful for friends :) .

13th-

I am Thankful for Christmas baking with my mom. Hooray it is finally here! :) . I like making and eating =D.

Ok I think I am caught up now.

You are thankful for snakes? And spiders? I am thankful for most animals, but snakes, spiders, sharks, crocodiles, vampire bats, snakes, alligators, sting rays, snakes, jelly-fish, tigers, snakes, and snakes are NOT ON THE LIST! Still I like your attitude, I want to be a mom, I don’t think that I can handle all of the blood and disgusting stuff that comes with that job. I say that Dogs ARE THE BEST ANIMALS IN THE WORLD! Then comes horses, and cats are almost on the list near the snakes.

Jessie
December 9, 2009

I’m sorry Grace but i have to dissagree w/ you on that. Horses are TOTALLY AWESOM!!!!

Grace
December 9, 2009

I never said that they weren’t, they are my second favorite animal!

Lydia
December 9, 2009

Spiders and Snakes maybe scary and harmful sometimes, but they also are helpful. We could have too many insects if spiders didn’t eat them. I agree with you that I think they are creepy and crawly, but I am Thankful that they are there. They have their job to do :) .

Grace
December 9, 2009

Well, you are probably just more thankful than me, I think that God was creative enough to design some kind of bird or rabbit to eat them.

Lydia

I am Thankful for that we have plenty of food :) . At housechurch we had ham, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, roles, and lots of other Christmas food :) . I particularly don’t care for ham, but this one was ok :) . This may seem basic, but I am really thankful for it :) . I know I do too many smileys :0. I have done one pretty much after EVERY sentence.
