My mom was telling me about something they are doing at the local middle school. They are receiving hundreds of copies of the “Twilight” series to give to the students. There was a movie recently made off of these books, and I saw the preview. I would rather have seen the preview for the move, “The Dragon Mummy”. The “Twilight” movie made me shudder. One of the main characters is a vampire who falls in love with a girl.
SICK! And now they are giving a bunch of these books to the middle school for kids to read! ARE THEY STUPID? YES! Pardon that, but it’s true. I am a home schooler, so it doesn’t really affect me, but it does affect hundreds, maybe thousands of people. Think about it, these are the kids are our future generation. The people that are going to run everything, they will be senators, governors, lawyers, doctors, store owners, TV announcers, teachers, waiters, waitresses, janitors, and the guy who takes the night shift at the gas station. What we put into our mind and heart now, will affect us later. Not just us, but our children, and our grandchildren, and our great-grandchildren.
Take Charles Darwin for example, he was not the first one to come up with the idea. And a lot of his beliefs were influenced by what his grandfather, Erasmus Darwin, wrote about in some of his books, such as “Zoonomia”. And he was dead by the time Charles was born! Think about all the hurt and damage Charles’s theories have caused, a lot of evil movements, people, and societies are based with evolution. And Charles continues to affect his descendants. You can’t go on in life without looking ahead of you, or you will make a lot more mistakes, you won’t be as careful about what you allow in your life.
So let’s pretend I am now 27, I have three adorable little darlings, Gilbert, Wisteria, and Patsy. They all look up to me and copy what I do, if I show fear in some area they tend to do the same. They are always watching me to see what I do and then they copy it, their innocent little eyes and hearts take everything in. If I say a bad word, sweet 2 year old Gilbert might say the same. If I look at trash on the computer, then precious little 3 year old Wisteria might not understand how damaging it is, because “Mama does it.” If I treat someone in an unkind and non-Christian way, my treasure 5 year old Patsy might do the same.
Now I am going back several years. Here I am, a young teenager that loves to read, paint, watch movies, hang out with friends, and so on. I look ahead and think about having a family some day, I try to imagine what life will be like. I try to picture how I would deal with certain situations that come with being a parent. I really want to be ready so that my children, I don’t like the word “kids” unless it applies to baby goats, will have the best mommy possible. So how does that go with watching “Twilight”, or reading the book series? Well, If I allowed myself to watch that, or read those books, what do you think would happen? Well, I probably would throw up a couple times, that would be messy. I also might think about it, and let my mind dwell on it. I might have bad dreams and fear about what I read, you know, Satan sees stuff like that as an invitation to an open house! I opened up a whole new world of disgusting mess to my heart and soul, unnecessary junk. Now the enemy has an opening in my life, one that probably wouldn’t have been there if I hadn’t read that book, or watched that movie. So now I go forward into the years again, here I am with little Gilbert, Wisteria, and Patsy. I am solely responsible for their upbringing, they are my job. And I want to do the best job possible, because if I don’t, they could get really messed up, and have pain, suffering, terror, and death. Okay, that was somewhat dramatic, but it’s true. Do you think that they are going to get a better packaged deal-on-a-mother if I allowed junk to enter my life? Or if I worked my tail off to stay clean and righteous. That was like asking a baby if she wanted spinach, or applesauce? This sums it all up, “NOW COUNTS FOR LATER”!

I have spoken with several ADULT Christian ladies who have gotten hooked on these books and think they are just harmless love stories. They tell me the vampires are not evil vampires because they look out for the humans they fall in love with. One lady even offered me the book to read. Amazing how something so obviously evil can seem “harmless” to even a believer when judged by human emotion rather than the wisdom of God.
