Just more “Gracie” Happenin’s

I know that I have been neglecting you all shamefully lately, and I apologize most humbly. For one who professes to love writing as much as I do, I really am acting like a big hypocrite! Well… you see… I found my FAVORITE books series that each individual book costs like $8.00 for FREE online! Let me tell you what, when I found that out I floated around the house! But reading is no excuse, I should be ashamed and I am, well, I am redeemed by Christ and since most of you are Christians I hope you have to forgive me to be good ones!

Not much has really been going on lately. We are preparing for a big event at orchestra in a few weeks. All of our classes and choirs are working really hard, I hope that we are blessed with success. In case you haven’t read previous articles the event we are preparing for is called “Federation”. It’s where a bunch of judges come and hear us play, they rate us and when we have racked up 15 points we get a trophy. Very cool! I am looking forward to it, we have been working hard for weeks. There are only two more practices before the actual thing on March 12.

Me and my mom went to our favorite thrift store here in town on Wednesday. They were having a 50 cents sale to get rid of their winter items. This is like a really cool store, it may not have the fanciest location, but you can get really classy items with really classy brands for a 1/4 of the price that you would normally pay! Like “Talbots”, and “Dress Barn”, and “Eddie Bauer”, and lots more. Me and mom loaded up! I got a bunch of really elegant tops, mostly blouses, my favorite kind! I bought some for next year at orchestra, two black ones, and three red ones. One is a black velvet with a square shaped collar. The other black one is of a silkier fabric with some shiny bead work up the middle near the buttons.

I have to wear something black and white for our upcoming performance, I was planning on wearing one of my white blouses with a black skirt. But now I have these two new black ones. So now I am faced with the dilemma of figuring out which one to wear. I could do the white blouse that has the pretty white embroidery up the front, but that is more casual and I can use it in everyday outfits. Or I could do the other white blouse that has the silver threads woven in here and there, but I can make that more casual too. So now I am left with the black ones, I really look better in black than white, it lights me up just like pink, and blue, and red or maroon do. I could do the black one with the bead work, but I think that it might be a little dramatic, and I will get plenty of opportunities to wear it next year when I join the high school choir, they get to perform more than the Mezzo Choir. So I think that I have chosen the velvet top, velvet just tickles a part of me that no other kind of fabric can tickle. And the collar is so elegant, I just LOVE square shaped collars!

Oh, they are announcing the winner of the story contest on the 28th. I am trying not to think about it, but I will let everyone know of the results.

Spring is on the way! I LOVE the spring. I love the winter too, and some parts of summer. Fall is my favorite season of all, and summer is my least favorite. Some parts I like, like the Fourth of July, and barbecues, and swimming. But I also don’t really like all of the heat and the bugs, and the ticks, and the snakes, UGH! And we seem to have a history of bad air conditioners. One that has remained unbroken for years, bummer!

Fall is so nice because of the colors, and the stirring of the air, and all the nasty crawly things leave, and there are spicy smells, and you are looking forward to cozy nights inside with a cup of hot tea or cocoa with the wind howling around the house, ah bliss!

And winter is so nice because it relieves you from the horrid heat of the summer, and you can wear all of your new sweaters, and you are planning for Christmas, and the snow is falling, delightful!

And spring is so lovely because you get sick of winter after a while, especially when you don’t get much snow. And things begin to grow again, well, plants anyway, not the other, uh, icky things previously mentioned. I don’t like that part. And you can pull out your cute new spring skirts and sandals, and it’s time for cold pies, and salads, and lots of veggies, and… GARAGE SALES! Hallelujah Chorus is playing!

And before you know it it is summer again, and then fall, and then winter, and there you are right back at spring again. I always seem to come back here as my starting point, interesting.

Bedtime for Gracie!

Ok I was just wondering what the difference between a blouse and I top is? I always thought that they were the same.

Well, a top can be like any kind of fabric, it could be polyester, cotton, or wool. But a blouse is usually a more papery fabric, the kind you have to iron, with buttoned sleeves and buttons all up the front. So there is a difference.
