Yes, I started again. And boy was it nice to be back.
I rode Buddy, Mr. Steady and Dependable. But oddly he acted much like Chris usually does this time.
At first he was the same, slow, steady, kind of just plodding along. But then when my friend’s horse started trotting up ahead of us, Buddy woke up! He started trotting really fast to catch up, a nice change really.
I worked mostly on trotting, walking, and relaxing. I feel like I did much better at relaxing.
Buddy also wanted to leave, so he tried to hurry to the gate, and I couldn’t stop him. Miss Emma had to stop him, then she showed me how to do it. I have to lean back and pull the reins. I had pulled the reins at another lesson, and Miss Emma told me not to do that. The difference is that you are supposed to lean your body back, and when you do, you pull on the reins. Then everything on your body says to the horse, “STOP!”
We are going to get to ride a new horse. His name is Pete. Such a boring and plain name for such a beautiful animal. He is a bay color, but he has a black and bay colored mane. Quite magnificent.
