The Cunning Count Stories

If you are a recent reader of this blog then you probably haven’t read the previous sections of “The Cunning Count”. This is a story I have been writing section by section. As you can see this is part 5, so there are 4 parts that lead up the the story we read now. If you want to read the other parts leading up to this one, then just look along the right side of the page where my categories are. In the category “Writing” is where you will find them. I apologize about the length, I personally and a fast reader and enjoy long books and stories, but I know that not everyone is like that. So feel free to just read a bit and come back later. Thanks!

The Cunning Count- Part 5: A Web of Danger

Bristling up in front of Sir Paul and Elise stood a menacing guard dog, his teeth bared, and his eyes glistening! Sir Paul quickly stood in front of a half fainting Elise. The dog circled in front still growling, but thankfully he hadn’t barked yet. Sir Paul advanced slightly, one hand out in a friendly gesture.

The dog sniffed it a moment and seemed hesitant, as if not sure whether to make friends or not. Sir Paul saw his advantage and made a bold move, he reached up and scratched the dog’s ear. The dog tensed again for a moment, but then allowed himself to relax, enjoying the soothing hand that stroked his ears.

Elise breathed a silent sigh of relief while Sir Paul moved closer to examine the dog. The poor beast had a large and tight chain about his neck that kept him in constant discomfort. The chain was attached to a ring on the wall, so that the dog could not leave the dining hall.

Pity for the dog caused Sir Paul to loosen the chain so that he could breath properly again, then with a soothing pat he guided Elise on past the subdued creature and out of the door.

Once outside they paused and listened for the sentries footfalls on the high walls above. Waiting until the footsteps retreated they made a silent rush into the circle of darkness that surrounded the moat.

Story Info

As you can see I wrote another section of, “The Cunning Count”. I apologize about the length. But this one is segmented so you can just remember where you last left off if you want to break it up. I have polls now so instead of commenting to tell me your opinion you can just vote! I’m really getting modern huh? :P

The Cunning Count – Part 4: A Friend Among the Foe

Dark, cold, and musty was the way to describe the interior of the tower where Elise was confined. She had been dragged there at the enraged Count’s orders, and now was sitting aimlessly on the floor with a chain about her waist. She felt like crying, but decided against it, as she didn’t know when someone would come in and didn’t want to be caught in that state.

“How in the world did I get here? Is just being pretty this hard? Honestly, if my life would be simpler if I would be plain and I got married and was happy I would rather be plain.” Elise thought to herself, she couldn’t help smiling at the idea, because her father had often said,

“It’s not just your angelic face that draws people to you Elise my dear, it’s your heart, your radiant inner beauty. They see in you a light that is not common in young ladies your age.”

Imagining her father’s voice and face was comforting to Elise, and she leaned her head against the cool stone wall and took a deep breath.

“Help me find a way out oh Lord.” Was what she whispered as she fell asleep.

Story Contest

Well I didn’t win. I was pretty well prepared for that, but it is still a disappointment. That is the only contest I have ever entered, and I don’t really know where any others are, so I don’t really get many chances to win.

But it’s okay, if you want to read the winner’s story just go to Vision Forum scroll down and go to essays.

Thanks for all your support, it seems that this author needs to go back the drawing board, or notebook paper!
